Think Rum revealed the winners of this year’s awards at the second annual event held last week, with Sly Augustin taking the prestigious Rum Champion of the Year gong and the Best Individual Rum Bar award.
Augustin of Trailer Happiness beat an impressive shortlist, including colleague Paul McFayden, Pernod Ricard UK’s Meimi Sanchez and Rum Ambassador’s Ian Burrell, to win the Rum Champion of the Year award, while Trailer Happiness beat off stiff competition in the Best Individual Rum Bar category from Mahiki and Rum & Sugar.
The award for Best Multiple On-trade went to Drake & Morgan, with the shortlist including Be At One and Revolución de Cuba.
In the off-trade Waitrose came out on top as the Best Multiple Retailer ahead of Majestic, Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencer, with Gerry’s of Soho awarded Best Independent Retailer over Hedonism and The Whisky Exchange.
The Harpers event, which was co-chaired by Rum connoisseur Peter Holland who runs The Floating Rum Shack, forms part of Agile Media's Think series of events, offering an immersive day of debates, workshops, insight and tastings.
The next event – Think Gin, will take place in London on 30th April.
