Furleigh Estate in Dorset has scooped three trophies for its sparkling wines at the UK Vineyards Association annual awards ceremony.
The winery was awarded the President's Trophy (Best Small Production Wine) and the Vintner's Trophy (Most Outstanding Sparkling Wine) for its Blanc de Noirs 2009; and the Bob Lindo Trophy (Best Sparkling Rosé Wine) for its Rosé 2010.
Chapel Down also picked up three trophies for its still wines: the Wine Guild Trophy (Best Wine From Any Other Year (not 2012)), the Bernard Theobold Trophy (Best Red Wine) for its Pinot Noir 2011 and the McNie Trophy (Best Oaked White Wine) for its Kits Coty Estate Chardonnay 2011.
Furleigh Estate is located near Bridport in Devon and occupies nearly 35ha of vineyards surrounded by lakes and woodland. Once a dairy farm, it underwent the transformation into vineyard and winery, which opened for business in 2007. Its south-facing slopes are home to 22,000 vines, 15,000 of which are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
