Vintage Glenfiddich

Published:  18 January, 2007

Glenfiddich has released its new vintage malt whisky, 1972 Glenfiddich.

Priced at 249 a bottle, brand-owner William Grant said that it had already received advance orders from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Spain, France Germany and Sweden'.

This year, Glenfiddich decided to let the men who actually made the whisky select it. Mashmen Brian Robertson and Bill Duncan, coppersmith Dennis McBain, spirit handler George McDonald, warehouse man Eric Stephen, cooper Don Ramsay and maltmaster David Stewart duly nosed a series of single malts all over 30 years old and, by unanimous consent, selected three casks from 1972 to be bottled. McBain said: It is incredible to think that a whisky we all helped to make almost 33 years ago is now set to showcase the quality of Glenfiddich around the globe.'
