Wine Australia expands ProWein showcase to reflect diversity

Published:  01 March, 2016

Wine Australia will be celebrating the storied history of Australian wines at its largest showcase yet at ProWein this month.

Some 46 winemakers will be showcasing more than 500 wines from 21 distinct wine-producing regions to illuminate the diversity and depth of Australian viniculture.

Australian wine expert Thomas Curtius will partner with a number of exhibitors throughout the three-day fair on five 30-minute feature tastings.

The themed tastings will offer visitors to the stand an interactive forum to learn about Australian wine today.

Mark Davidson, Wine Australia's global education manager, will also lead two masterclasses at ProWein's forum in Hall 13.

On Sunday, March 13 at 3:30pm, Davidson will be discussing Oceans, Altitude and Australian Attitudes.

On March 14 in the same time slot, Davidson's theme will be The Evolution of Australian Grenache.

Wines from the master classes - which include Arras Late Disgorged Chardonnay, Ochota Barrels Fugazi and Jamsheed Seville - will also be available to taste on-stand.

Wine Australia is also inviting visitors to end the day on Sunday and Monday with a Happy Hour on-stand from 6:00pm, where conversations can be continued in a more informal setting accompanied by Australian wine, drinks and canapés.

Laura Jewell MW, head of market for Wine Australia UK and Europe, said: "There has been a lot of positive buzz about Australia in the press and beyond recently, and there's a reason for that.

"This year at ProWein, visitors can taste why Australian wine is celebrated across the world for its revolutionary styles and diverse varieties and talk to the people behind the labels who are at the forefront of the new Australia."

ProWein will be held in Düsseldorf from March 13 to 15.

Wine Australia has expanded its stand by 30% this year.
