Accolade takes Grant Burge distribution from Hatch Mansfield

Published:  30 October, 2015

Australian winery Grant Burge is to end its 10-year distribution deal with Hatch Mansfield.

The Barossa-based wine producer was acquired by Accolade Wines in January this year. The acquisition included the Grant Burge brand, business and Krondorf winery.

At the time of the acquisition, Michael East, Accolade's general manager for Asia Pacific, said: "We see this as an opportunity to grow the brand even further globally through our distribution network across 112 countries."

Hatch Mansfield has now reached agreement with Accolade on returning the UK distribution of Grant Burge to its new owners.

Patrick McGrath MW, managing director of Hatch Mansfield, said. "We have enjoyed a long and successful relationship with Grant Burge and have built it into our premium brand offering from the Barossa.

"However, having carefully considered the core values of our portfolio, we felt that it was appropriate to return the distribution of this brand to Accolade Wines.

"We will work with the Accolade Wines team to ensure there is a smooth transition for all customers."

Tom Wallis, sales director UK & Ireland at Accolade Wines UK, said: "Taking over the distribution of Grant Burge, whilst it is in such fine health with a wide customer base is a real privilege.

"Hatch Mansfield have done a brilliant job of growing this brand within the UK market."

Accolade cemented its status as a pre-eminent New World wine business through its through its recent acquisition of Chilean producer Viña Anakena.

It is the first company with a presence in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, North America and South America.

Accolade brands include Hardy's and Banrock in Australia, Flagstone, Fish Hoek and Kumala in South Africa, Echo Falls in California, and Waipara Hills in New Zealand.
