Diageo's 2013 World Class Bartender competition has been made into a four-part TV series, set to air this month.
More than 10,000 initial entrants were whittled down to 43 for the global final, which took place on board a luxury cruise liner as it sailed from Monaco to St Tropez, Ibiza and then on to the finale in Barcelona. Bartenders were tested on their mastery of spirits, food pairing, speed rounds and their signature serves. The television programming features the challenges, the eliminations held throughout the competition and the naming of the overall winner.
The programme is scheduled to air from November across more than 110 countries, including the Food Network in the UK. The programme starts on the Food Network at 10pm on November 18 and airs at the same time every night until November 21.
Alex Connock, managing director of show producer Shine North, said: "Diageo has established an amazing, credible competition in World Class Bartender of the Year, which it has been a privilege for our team to capture in a TV format. The global appreciation of mixology, coupled with the truly international line up of talented, inventive bartenders, makes for a compelling show with universal appeal."
