Guala presents 'world's first' sparkling screwcap

Published:  20 June, 2013

Gone are the days of putting a teaspoon in a bottle of fizz to attempt to keep it fizzy.

It's now a bit more technical than that, as Guala Closures launches Viiva, claiming to be the "world's first" screwcap closure for 75cl sparkling wine.

Suitable for up to 5GV (gas volume) liquid pressure, it claims to keep a sparkling wine's correct level of carbonation for weeks after opening.

Added benefits are the elimination of ullage caused by TCA contamination as in standard screwcap enclosures.

Officially launched in Australia with De Bortoli's Willowglen and Trevi ranges, it comes on the back of a five-year collaboration between Guala Closures and O-I Glass.
