Berkmann Wine Cellars has announced it will distribute Chapmagne Drappier in the UK from August.
Drappier is a family-fun Champagne house which prides itself for being at the forefront of cutting-edge Champagne production. The family has been producing Champagne since 1808 and is often credited with being instrumental in reintroducing Pinot Noir to the Aube post-phylloxera.
Berkmann managing director Rupert Berkmann said the move was prompted by the "high quality of Drappier's wines" and claimed the partnership was "a natural fit".
"In a period of rising costs, they continue to offer exceptional value for money and a range of wines that offer a real point of difference. Perhaps the best example of this is 'Quattuor' - a blanc de blancs produced using the extremely rare Arbanne, Petit Meslier, Blanc Vrai (or Pinot Blanc) grape varieties, alongside the more traditional Chardonnay. As a fellow family business Champagne Drappier shares the same ethos and long-term vision as Berkmann."
Champagne Drappier winemaker Michel Drappier said: "Quality, family and a real wine culture are the watchwords we share with Berkmann. We look forward to working together in developing the Drappier brand in the UK, where Champagne connoisseurs are numerous and among the most knowledgeable in the world."
