Grossi Wines - high quality from small producers

Published:  08 June, 2011

Grossi Wines has extended it's portfolio for the independent retail and on-trade.

It now offers a range of over 90 wines from 30 boutique producers, from Lombardia in the north, and as far as Sicily.

The idea is to offer customers high quality Italian wines from small, independent Italian producers who exclusively hand-pick their grapes and employ traditional methods of production.

And there are some nice examples to be had here.

They include the Lahnhof Kerner 2010 Südtirol Eisacktal, from Alto Adige Valle (rrp £32.45). Made Carlo Ferrini, the nose is aromatic with pear, lychee and jasmine on the palate it has rich round, creamy flavours.

Also the Fongoli Sagrantino Secco DOCG 2006 from Umbria (rrp £36.45), is a big wine full of ripe black fruit, black olive and licorice flavours, good firm tannins and plenty of complexity. gemma@grossiwines.co.uk
