Michael Mondavi wines go on sale through Bibendum

Published:  18 November, 2010

Michael Mondavi, of the famous Californian wine dynasty, is launching a new range of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon wines in the UK with Bibendum.

Bibendum will import Emblem Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 rrp £26, Emblem Oso Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 rrp £42 and the icon M by Michael Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 rrp £199.

Michael is the eldest son of the late Robert Mondavi with whom he co-founded the Robert Mondavi Winery in Napa Valley in 1966.

He worked in the family company in various roles including vice-president of production (responsible for winemaking), VP of Sales, managing director and chief executive until its sale to Constellation Brands in 2004. Following that sale, he returned to the family's roots creating small quantities of artisan Napa Valley wines.

Tim Marson MW, Bibendum Buyer, added: "We are very excited to be representing the fruits of the next generation of the world-famous Mondavi dynasty. Michael and his son Rob have consciously returned to the more refined, elegant style of Napa Cabernet that Michael's father made famous back in the early days of the Robert Mondavi winery. M by Michael Mondavi already rivals some of the very best in the region and it will be fascinating to watch how this wine establishes itself as the new benchmark for top-end Napa Valley Cabernet."

The wines will be available to all channels of the UK trade and all three Michael Mondavi wines will be available to taste at Bibendum EC1, Bibendum's Annual Trade and Press Tasting, on January 26 2011.
