Constellation Europe to boost supply chain

Constellation Europe has appointed software firm RedPrairie to streamline and improve its supply chain activities.

A division of Constellation Brands - the world's largest wine company - Constellation Europe hopes to optimise workforce management and reduce truck turnaround at its 870,000 sq ft Avonmouth site commissioned to open next year.

The warehouse and bottling plant will handle in the region of 120 million bottles per annum.

Europe's largest bonded warehouse is set to open in October 2008 and will treble Constellation Europe's existing warehousing and bottling capacity.

Martin Grisman, Constellation Europe Senior Vice-President of Operations, said that in a competitive industry companies are always looking at ways to drive down costs.

He added: "We are confident that RedPrairie's E2e suite will help us work smarter in all areas by streamlining warehouse management processes, optimising labour productivity and deferring duty and VAT payments while cutting technology cost of ownership through a single, integrated technology suite."

As well as distribution and warehousing, the Avonmouth site will handle bottling for bulk-imported wine from South Africa, Australia and the United States.
