Majestic hoping to toast £100m deal

Published:  21 May, 2019

Majestic wants £100 million for its bricks and mortar stores, according to a report from Sky News.

It said OpCapita, which used to own Comet, is “vying with a US-based investor and another turnaround firm” to buy the sites.

City sources told Sky News that Majestic and its advisers at Rothschild are "keen to tie up a deal” before the company updates the City on its restructuring process in June.

In March, Majestic revealed its plan to rebrand as Naked Wines. It acquired the online retailer in 2015 for £70m, with Naked founder Rowan Gormley taking over as CEO at Majestic.

In April, Harpers revealed the new look of a trial store rebranded from Majestic to Naked.
