Bristol based bartender Chelsie Bailey has been revealed as the UK finalist in the 2019 Bacardi Legacy Cocktail Competition. She will now compete at the global final in Amsterdam in May.
Bailey said she undertook a “military-style analysis” of over 150 Bacardi-based cocktails from previous competitions to perfect her Rum Reverie recipe, her first entry into the competition.
“I’m absolutely honoured to have been selected to represent the UK in this year’s global Legacy final in Amsterdam,” said Bailey. “To even have made it to the UK final and compete against such accomplished bartenders felt like a huge achievement so I’m really excited to have the chance to take Rum Reverie all the way.”
Metinee Kongsrivilai, UK brand ambassador for Bacardi, said: “This year’s four most promising bartenders produced an extremely high calibre of cocktails. It’s always a tough decision to make at this stage of the competition but we felt Rum Reverie is a true expression of Chelsie’s journey as a bartender, combining years of knowledge and expertise in one glass. We’re excited to have Chelsie represent the UK in the global finals and we want to congratulate all that have taken part so far.”
The global final will take place in Amsterdam on 14 May.
