London-based distributor Bancroft Wines has appointed former Liberty Wines commercial director Jon Worsley as its new CEO.
Worsley has been in the industry for more than 20 years, working with Pernod Ricard, Treasury Wine Estates and United Wineries before joining Liberty, where he has worked for the past three years.
This is the first time the business has had a CEO, a role with broader responsibilities created to drive its expansion. Former managing director Neil Mcandrew stood down in October, after 17 years at the business.
“We’re very happy to welcome Jon into our business,” said Bancroft chairman Peter De Haan. “He has a proven track record of exceptional leadership and an ability to implement positive and effective changes. These skills will be invaluable as we work to achieve our ambitious growth plans.”
Worsley said he was “thrilled” to be joining the company, adding: “I look forward to working closely with the team, to strengthening relationships with our suppliers, and to continue to offer first-class service to our customers.”
