Gordon & MacPhail re-structure recognises UK single malt sales

Published:  19 January, 2018

Malt whisky specialist Gordon & MacPhail has announced the integration of the UK market into its global sales strategy to build on the strength of UK-wide sales.

Gordon & MacPhail and Benromach whiskies will now fall under the remit of international sales director David King, who will assume overall responsibility for global sales including the UK.

This follows a rise in UK sales at the company, which reached £19.4m in 2017 – an increase of 10.4%.

International sales also rose 11.8% to £8.9 million.

Ewen Mackintosh, Gordon & MacPhail managing director, said: “The UK is an important single malt market and this is reflected in the expansion of David’s remit to include the UK as a key element of the company’s global sales strategy going forward.

“The restructuring of our sales division is part of the company’s long-term plan to build the reputation of the Gordon & MacPhail single malt whisky brand in the luxury sector while continuing to invest in marketing and brand building for Benromach across the world.”

The company’s UK wholesale division will focus on building sales of Gordon & MacPhail and Benromach whiskies alongside select distributor brands.

UK sales manager Stuart Ellis will now be the main contact for wholesale customers.
