Connoisseur Estates signs up first English sparkling wine producer

Published:  03 April, 2017

Connoisseur Estates has announced a new agency agreement for Woodchurch English sparkling wines to plug the gap for English wines in the their portfolio.

Andrew Steel, director of the importer and agency business said the addition of the new Kent-based winery reflects the growing popularity and quality evolution of English sparkling wine.

“With the advance in quality and popularity of English sparkling wines in recent years, not having an English wine in the portfolio had become an increasingly obvious gap for us as a supplier of boutique, family owned wines to the independent sector,” he said.

The family-owned business was established in 2009 at Woodchurch Estate in Kent, by husband and wife team Graham and Donna Barbour.

The vineyard is set on hills looking south over the ancient Romney marsh down to the English Channel.

Woodchurch released its first wines in 2015 with a Classic Cuvée, Rosé and Blanc de Blancs.

The Woodchurch wines will be available in the UK for the independent on- and off-trade with an RRP of £26.95 for the Classic Cuvée and £28.95 for the Rosé and Blanc de Blancs.

Connoisseur Estates international boutiques producers such as Tohu & Aronui from New Zealand, Oldenburg Vineyards from South Africa, Gauchezco Wines from Argentina, and Champagne Autréau.
