Speyside distillery The Glenrothes has launched a new expression, The Peated Cask Reserve, as part of its rebranded Reserve Collection.
Peated Cask Reserve was inspired by research into the distillery's history.
Founded in 1879, one of The Glenrothes' earliest ventures was an association with the Islay Distillery Co.
The Peated Cask Reserve is 1992 vintage Glenrothes which has been matured for a short time in Islay casks.
Ronnie Cox, brand heritage director at The Glenrothes, described the Peated Cask Reserve as: "A wonderful surprise. Another first! The first modern-day marriage of elegant, fruity, and, of course, mature Glenrothes with subtle but intriguing peaty mists of Islay."
The Glenrothes Peated Cask Reserve will be sold exclusively through M&S in the UK from November. It has an RRP of £45.
The other whiskies in the Reserve Collection are the Sherry Cask Reserve, Bourbon Cask Reserve, and Vintage Reserve.
The Bourbon Cask Reserve is the rebranded Alba Reserve.
The Vintage Reserve was launched in July this year and is a blend of ten different vintages. It has already won gold medals at the Scotch Whisky Masters, the China Wine & Spirits Awards, and the Asian Spirits Masters.
The Glenrothes is owned by Berry Bros and Rudd.
The distillery bottles just 3% of its output as single malt. Of the 22 single vintage whiskies it has released, 14 have sold out.
