The Vintners' Company has pledged its support to the Wine & Spirit Education Trust's proposed purchase of a new building by offering to sponsor one of the lecture rooms in the new facility. Ian Harris, chief executive of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, commented: We are delighted that the Vintners' Company has offered to sponsor one of the lecture rooms in our new building. The link between WSET and The Vintners' Company goes back to our foundation in 1969, when The Vintners' Company was one of the prime movers in setting up WSET.' In addition to the 100,000 sponsorship of the lecture room, The Vintners' Company is also donating 100,000 towards the moving costs, and has also funded the surveyor's costs of over 50,000 for finding the building. Michael Smythe, clerk of The Vintners' Company, said: We are committed to supporting the wine trade and trade education, and this donation is a tangible demonstration of that principle. We wish WSET well in its new home and look forward to the name of the Vintners' Company being associated with the new teaching facilities.'
