Celebrity chef Simon Rimmer is to open his first venue in his hometown of Liverpool in a partnership with DoubleTree by Hilton Liverpool.

Simon Rimmer at Layla Brasserie is located within the new hotel, which is scheduled to open in late 2013 and will be housed in a Grade II-listed building on Dale Street.

It will see Rimmer involved at every level of Layla Brasserie to make it a destination resaturant, including the development of the concept, the team selection and the creation of the menu.

The food will be modern British and will be complemented by his new range of beers specifically brewed to go expressly with food.

Rimmer said: "We are in the process of hand-picking the most talented and creative chefs in the hospitality industry who will join the team in Liverpool. Thanks to their expertise, my vision for creating something really special and my ambition to be the best independent neighbourhood restaurant in Liverpool is being realised."

Simon Rimmer will join the roster of celebrity chefs at DoubleTree by Hilton's UK hotels that includes The Kailyard by Nick Nairn at the Dunblane Hydro Hotel and The Marco Pierre White Steakhouse in Chester.

Rimmer presents Sunday Brunch on Channel 4, has sold over 100,000 cookery books, launched the Earle Brasserie in Cheshire, alongside Greens vegetarian restaurant in Manchester, and most recently his own range of beers brewed to match specific dishes.
