Scottish spirits producer and distributor Edrington has announced massive exansion plans into the US, South East Asia and the Middle East.
Edrington plans to establish sales, marketing and distribution companies in these areas, which currently account for 26% of Edrington's sales.
The move demonstrates the company's confidence in its future and will bring its premium spirits brands closer to consumers in these key areas.
Chief executive Ian Curle (pictured) said: "Today's announcement marks a step change in Edrington's business. Worldwide demand for premium and super-premium spirits continues to grow and by expanding our distribution capabilities so significantly we are seizing the opportunity to increase investment in our brands and reach even more consumers who are showing a growing appreciation of premium spirits."
Edrington USA will take on the distribution of spirits brands in the USA; while Edrington Singapore will manage brands across Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia and Laos; and Edrington FIX sees a joint venture with FIX Wines & Spirits distribute spirits in the Middle East, the Gulf and North Africa.
The expansion plans follow last year's creation of Edrington Africa in South Africa.
