Representatives from one of the world's largest spirits buyers, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, are meeting senior figures from the UK trade in London this week.
The WSTA-hosted visit will introduce LCBO buyers to representatives from a host of leading spirit producers, including Beverage Brands, G&J Greenall, Global Brands, Hayman Distillers and Halewood, plus several retailers.
The LCBO buys product for all of the provincial government-owned alcohol retail outlets throughout Ontario.
LCBO category manager (white spirits, RTDs and accessories) Stacee Roth said:
"As buyers for the province of Ontario, the world's largest liquor retailer, it's vital we're aware of the latest market trends and product developments.
"This visit gives us the opportunity to hear direct from some of the UK's leading spirits companies and extend our knowledge of the range of products available."
WSTA spirits policy manager Louise Foxwell said: "Ontario is home to a third of Canada's population so it offers a major market opportunity to producers looking to increase their exports.
"UK producers are at the forefront of innovation in the spirits category and are well placed to help buyers appreciate the new opportunities on the market."
