Bacardi's David to be new Grant boss

Published:  23 June, 2009

Bacardi global marketing chief Stella David is to leave the company to become the new chief executive of Scotch producer William Grant.

David will replace Roland van Bommel, who announced he was to step down from the Grant post late last year.

Stella will join Grant on Aug 10 after four years as global marketing chief officer for the world's best-known rum producer.

While at Bacardi, she has also been vice president of global operations, managing director for Asia Pacific and chief executive officer of the British and Dutch businesses.

Bacardi-Martini UK was in the top 10 of the Sunday Times 100 best companies to work for, for five years in a row, during her time as its boss.

William Grant chairman Peter Grant thanked van Bommel for his "leadership and significant achievements" in five years as head of the company.

He added: "We are pleased to welcome Stella as our new chief executive as we continue our journey to grow the company and become a brand-led business with offerings that are the envy of the industry."
