Online Amazon-style wholesaler Ooberstock has bumped up its portfolio with brands from Diageo, and UK cider company the C&C Group.

The new partnerships mean that Guinness and Magners Cider are now available, alongside leading spirits, beer, wine and soft drink brands, plus a selection of craft ales.

Ooberstock launched earlier this year as an "intelligent wholesale company" with the aim of shaking up the traditional wholesaling model. Its focus is to offer a quicker, more convenient and cost-effective service by outsourcing the core elements of the business to three industry specialists: logistics giant Kuehne + Nagel; BCW Group, business process outsourcer; and intelligence provider iTradeNetwork.

Arran Heal, managing director of Ooberstock, said: "Securing listings from these two major drinks companies is a significant step forward for us, and means that we are now rivalling the most established 'bricks and mortar' wholesalers in terms of our offering.

"Our growing customer numbers show the industry is embracing a more transparent, lower-cost and more flexible service. We are confident that increasing numbers of licensees will make the switch to our service."

Drinks companies listed on Ooberstock include: Bibendum and Cockburn & Campbell wines, Pernod Ricard, Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands, First Drinks Brands, Maxxium UK, Global Brands and Whyte &Mackay.

It plans to to have 3,000 retailers on board at the end of year one, and to carry out an estimated 156,000 transactions in that time.
