Buckingham Schenk to push key new Chilean brands at SITT

UK wine importer Buckingham Schenk is to unveil a range of wines from Chile's Garcés Silva Family Vineyards at the Specialist Importers Trade Tasting (SITT) in February.

This will be the first time the company has exhibited at SITT.

The Garcés Silva vineyards are in the Leyda Valley in central Chile, some nine miles from the Pacific Ocean. Its first vines were planted in 1999.

Buckingham Schenk will be exhibiting wines from the winery's award-winning Amayna and Boya brands.

The brands were both new to Buckingham Schenk's latest wine list, which was published in November.

David Tromans, marketing manager at Buckingham Schenk, said: "The Specialist Importers Trade Tasting is now regarded as one of the key events in the wine trade calendar for the independent on- and off- trade sectors and Buckingham Schenk is delighted to have the opportunity to exhibit.

We are confident we have the right wines in our new portfolio to service this essential part of the market."

There are two SITT tastings in spring. The Manchester event is at Lancashire County Cricket Club on February 22, followed two days later by its London counterpart at The Royal Horticultural Halls on February 24.

Buckingham Schenk is a wholly owned subsidiary of the pan-European Schenk Wine Group, which bought out founder Cliff Roberson in 2012.

The company started to focus on the on-trade three years ago.

It has doubled its on-trade volumes in the last year, and now has some 40 accounts.
