Frescobaldi family to open first UK restaurant

Published:  10 July, 2014

Acclaimed Italian wine family, the Frescobaldis, is to open its first standalone restaurant and wine bar in the UK.

The new venture is set to open in London's prestigious Mayfair in the autumn and will be a joint venture with the Good Food Society, a new hospitality group backed by Levent Büyüku?ur, founder of Istanbul Doors, a 40-strong restaurant group with outlets in the UK, Turkey, Russia and Azerbaijan.

The Frescobaldis have been running restaurants in key locations since 1999 and currently have the Dei Frescobaldi restaurants and wine bars in Florence, at Rome's Fiumicino airport and have a concession with Harrods.

Its first UK standalone restaurant will specialise in Tuscan dishes, paired with wines from the nine estates within the Marchesi de' Frescobaldi wine company.

These will include landmark wines from Mormoreto, a single-vineyard cru of Castello di Nipozzano, the flagship Frescobaldi cuvée and Brunello di Montalcino Castelgiocondo Riserva. In 1999 the Frescobaldis launched their restaurant division.
