Published:  28 July, 2014

Conviviality Retail, owner of Bargain Booze and Wine Rack, is launching BB's Warehouse, a new drinks store focused on multibuy and bulk discounting.

The group is on the look-out for more space - 3,000 square feet plus parking - to expand the concept and is also considering opening up BB's Warehouse to franchisees.

Conviviality RetailBB's Warehouse will focus on bulk and multi buy discountsConviviality Retail's new concept has an 800-strong range - including 400 wines, starting at £3.99 and offering a wide range of discounts.

Chief executive Diana Hunter called the brand "bold, fun and democratic", adding that it will have over 800 lines, with "everyday beer of wine favourites to something special that you might be surprised to find on the high street."

Shoppers will be able to buy by the case of in bulk, or use mix and match multibuy offers to make savings on single bottles.

The first store opened in Wakefield, West Yorkshire today, July 28.

Hunter said: "It's a simple proposition: the more you buy the more you save. The concept is unique and allows us to give shoppers unrivalled value, quality and choice.

"This new format is designed to encourage shoppers to browse at their leisure, try something new and tailor the deals to suit their taste and budget."

There will be 400 wines on offer starting from £3.99 and moving up to include exclusive fine wines and Champagnes such as Macedonia's Stobi Vranec, and award-winning small domain Chablis and Cheverney. There is also a tasting area in store.

More than 190 spirits will be on offer, including 20 premium skus such as Hine Rare VSOP champagne cognac; actor Dan Aykroyd's Crystal Head Vodka; and Japanese Nikka Whisky From The Barrel.

There will be 200 beers available with 60% of those craft ales, bottled cider and premium world beers such as Japan's Kirin Ichiban, Germany's Warsteiner, and Brooklyn Lager.

Multibuy offers will allow mixing across the categories - and prices will be listed for one, three, or six bottles of wine or beer; and one, two or three bottles of spirits.

Commercial director Kenton Burchell said it guarantees "every day value on key brands, where we are regularly cheaper than supermarkets who operate a high - low pricing strategy".

He gave the example of Casillero Del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon 75cl, which it sells for £7 or £6 when you buy three, or £5.50 when you buy six. "Unlike other retailers, we also provide our customers with the unique ability to personalise their purchasing repertoire by accessing this multibuy across 52 other red, white and rose wines at £7," said Burchell.

The Wakefield store is a refurbished Rhythm and Booze branch - Conviviality removed the ceiling to give a 'warehouse' feel and cut the stock room to boost space on the shop floor.

Conviviality Retail owns 575 franchisee-operated off-licences and convenience stores throughout England and Wales.
