Africa Wine Merchants, a new specialist wine importer based in Cape Town, is looking to bring premium European wines to key emerging markets across Africa.
Africa Wine Merchants is a new trading arm of the well established Africa Food Traders Group which has an extensive footprint throughout Africa. It has one of South Africa's most renowned wine judges and Cape Wine Master, Allan Mullins, as chief wine selector.
Premium Spanish producer, Bodegas Tierra Hermosa, is the latest wine to be taken on by Africa Wine Merchants. Founded and run by British winemaker, Harry Hunt, a recent graduate of Plumpton College, Bodegas Tierra Hermosa has been winning critical acclaim for its portfolio of wines made from high altitude vines in Andalucia, Spain.
Danie Mulder of Africa Wine Merchants said: "We are excited to be affiliated with Bodegas Tierra Hermosa. Since it's one of our aims to bring interesting, quality international wines to all corners of Africa, it's great to have Spanish, and specifically Andalucían wine represented by an estate that not only shows respect to the winemaking traditions of the area, but also provides some modern interpretations to make the wine that much more exciting. We look forward to distributing their wines throughout the continent, where consumers will no doubt find them fascinating as well as delicious."
Hunt of Bodegas Tierra Hermosa, added: "We're really thrilled about our collaboration with Africa Wine Merchants. Africa is an exciting market with fantastic potential, and it requires a level of expertise and experience that the guys at Africa Wine Merchants can provide through the existing structures and distribution channels of the wider Group. Allan Mullin's inclusion in the Africa Wine Merchants team to help select the wines was a real coup for the business."
