Published:  02 October, 2015

Sales of Caorunn gin and Speyburn and Balblair whiskies helped Inver House Distillers post a profit rise of 23% in 2014.

The company has reported operating profit of £12.3 million for the year on turnover that was up just 2.8% to £79.2 million.

Speyburn whisky value was up 28%, Balblair rose 12% and Caorunn saw an 18.5% rise.

Overall sales were up 11% for its focus brands which also include Old Pulteney, AnCnoc and Hankey Bannister.

The company has just under £100 million invested in stocks for future brand growth, an increase of 9% on the previous year.

The year saw a major expansion programme at Speyburn, an upgrade of Inver House's Balmenach distillery and the construction of new warehouses at its Airdrie headquarters.

Managing director Graham Stevenson said: "The year has strengthened our determination to build our brands for the future, with strategic investments being made to meet the numerous and diverse challenges and uncertainties that the industry undoubtedly faces globally.

"There are challenging times to come but we remain confident about our strategy and the opportunities for our brands and our industry."

Inver House is the Scotch whisky division of global drinks business International Beverage.
