Susanna Forbes launches British drinks website

Published:  18 November, 2010

A website dedicated to showcasing British drinks and promoting the best places to visit has been launched by industry journalist, Susanna Forbes.

DrinkBritain.com aims to help visitors discover and explore beer, cider, wine and spirits producers, region by region, letting them delve deeper into the history and production methods of some of Britain's finest drinks.

The site will highlight 85 of the best UK producers and direct readers to visitor-friendly breweries, wineries, distilleries or cider houses.

It will also provide regular news about Britain's drinks makers and quirky facts about the best of British produce.

DrinkBritain.com will spend the next six months building its existing library of quality local producers ahead of a consumer launch in the spring.

Founder and editor, Susanna Forbes, said: "We are delighted to introduce DrinkBritain.com to the UK trade and hope to rally support for our site ahead of our consumer launch.

"We would like to encourage British producers, especially those in the north of England and Scotland, to contact us if they want to feature on DrinkBritain.com.

"Our aim is to identify and showcase home-grown talent and to encourage the public to visit, understand and enjoy their locally produced wines, beers, ciders and spirits."

Forbes added: "Britain is now a world-class producer in all drinks categories and there is a need to provide information to the general public in a format which is both user-friendly and relevant."
