Chilean wines show strong growth

Published:  23 July, 2008

Wines of Chile is to focus on Sauvignon Blanc and Ros - the two fastest growing sectors of the UK wine market - at its annual trade tastings to be held in Manchester and London this week.

The latest Nielsen data shows strong growth in all UK sectors. The country's share of the UK off-trade market now stands at 7.5% (September 2007) and at 8.3% (July 2007) in the on-trade.

"The trend is set to continue as Chile grows in stature and confidence," Wines of Chile UK director, Michael Cox said.

"There are many great wines to taste at this event, but each winery has nominated a 'star wine' on their table to enable those visitors who are short of time to get a veritable snapshot of Chile.

The London trade tasting will start at 10am at The Business Design Centre, 52 Upper Street, Islington, on October 16.

The Manchester tasting will be held at Trafford & Stretford Suites, Manchester United Football Club, Old Trafford, on October 18.
