Bancroft signs deal as exclusive distributor of Heartland Wines

Published:  15 March, 2019

Bancroft Wines has signed a deal as the exclusive distributor of Heartland Wines with effect from 25th March.

Heartland’s wines, which are made at Ben Glaetzer’s purpose built, pioneering solar-powered and gravity-fed Barossa Vintners winery in Tanunda, are made with a minimum-intervention approach, with gentle handling and long, cool fermentations to guarantee freshness, elegance and drinkability.

The producer was a “natural fit” for Bancroft’s portfolio, said chief executive Jon Worsley.

“Their wines are absolutely unique, with great quality throughout the range and a true commitment to sustainability. There is also a natural synergy with our agency Glaetzer Wines, as they share Ben Glaetzer as winemaker. We are very excited to expand the presence of these wines in the UK.”

A joint venture from industry veterans and lifelong mates Ben Glaetzer and Nick Keukenmeester in Langhorne Creek, South Australia, Heartland Wines was founded in 1999, with its ethos having always been to create wines of balance and texture and with a “distinctive Australian identity”, with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

Heartland has also experimented with plantings of Dolcetto and Lagrein, which make up a few of their unique blends.

Now was the “perfect time” for Heartland to inject new energy into its UK presence, said Keukenmeester.

“The UK market is vibrant and diverse and I am confident that Bancroft’s young and energetic team will help introduce Heartland to a new audience and really tell the story of our very special terroir.”

London-based Bancroft supplies the on-trade, independent off-trade, private clients and several select national accounts nationwide.
