Published:  23 July, 2008

Majestic wine has secured a stunning' 36,000-bottle parcel of red and white Burgundies from the 1997 to 2000 vintages.

The wines will be offered at a fraction of their market price' according to a spokesman, with each store offering a different selection. The fine wine store at St John' Wood will be receiving a separate, larger allocation.

Nick Dagley, fine wine buyer at Majestic, said the wines come from producers such as Vincent Girardin, Bouchard Pre et Fils, Olivier Leflaive, Marc Colin, Colin Dleger, Dominique Laurent, Bernard Morey and Domaine Verget. They range from village wines right up to 1er cru and grand cru wines, the vast majority being of vintages 1997 to 2000.'

The wines were bought from a now defunct off-shore investment fund and were previously stored at Pool Logistics in Meursault.

The wines on offer include 1997 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Rapet Pre et Fils (22); 1998 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignres', Domaine Verget (19.99); and 1999 Romane-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru, Vincent Girardin (45).
