Costa leaves ICEP after six years

Joo Costa, the public face of Portuguese wine promotion in the UK, is to leave the country's trade and tourism office (ICEP) after six years.

Costa, who worked as product manager for ICEP, and organised countless press trips for journalists, is moving back to Portugal to work in a marketing capacity in the real estate and tourism industry.

He told Harpers: I've enjoyed my job here greatly, and made a lot of friends who I will miss a lot. Once you've worked in the wine industry, there's a little bug you get.'

In terms of Portuguese wine, Costa said that in his six years at ICEP, producers have made efforts to make their wines better than they were before'.

As of 8 July, his temporary replacement will be Antnio Nunes, who can be contacted on antonio.nunes@iapmei.icep.pt
