Prominent Italian group agrees transfer of distribution channels in the UK

Waddesdon Wine will have exclusive distribution of Luce della Vite, Attems and Danzante - all part of the Marchesi Frescobaldi Group – in the UK, taking over from Hallgarten Druitt.

The agreement follows the international strategy of the Italian group, to separate the marketing and sales responsibilities of their estates.

The three wines were formerly distributed by Hallgarten Druitt, together with the Frescobaldi brand wines, which will continue to be represented by Hallgarten Druitt.

Giovanni Geddes da Filicaja said the new agreement will help Luce della Vite to “focus on the appropriate market sectors” by partnering with Waddesdon Wine, which has knowledge and experience of the fine wine market in the UK through their own Rothschild Collection.

Stephen Lane, commercial director of Waddesdon Wine added: “As two family owned businesses, with generations of history and a strong reputation globally, there are many synergies.

“Waddesdon are very excited to be able to bring these wines to our loyal customer base while ensuring we maintain the great service existing customers have seen to date.”

Luce della Vite was established in 1995, originally as a collaboration between the Marchesi Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi estates.

Today, it exists under the sole proprietorship of the Frescobaldi family, but sticks closely to its original mission statement of expressing the distinctive characteristics of Tuscan town Montalcino through the Sangiovese grape, while showcasing the nuances of New World winemaking through the modern Merlot.

Attems was acquired by Frescobaldi in 2000 and produces crisp Pinot Grigios and Sauvignons on marl and sandstone soils.

Danzante produces contemporary Italian wines with “easy-drinking” as its USP.
