Sir Cliff Richard returns to Harpers stand at LIWSF

Published:  23 July, 2008

Pop legend Sir Cliff Richard will be making an appearance on the Harpers stand (K10) at this year's LIWSF to launch the new vintages of his Vida Nova Wine from Portugal.

Sir Cliff will be appearing at 11.30am on Tuesday 17 May to pour his 2004 Tinto (a blend of Aragonez, Shiraz, Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet) and 2004 Ros (Aragonez). This is the second time he has appeared on the Harpers stand - he launched his first vintage (which became the fastest-selling item ever on Tesco.com) on the Harpers stand at the 2002 Fair.

The winery - Adega do Cantor (winery of the singer) - is in the Algarve region of Portugal, and takes grapes from three dedicated vineyards. The consultant winemaker is the Australian David Baverstock.

The 2004 vintage has been described as characterised by a cooler than average August which allowed ripening to proceed slowly and evenly, resulting in more highly coloured and flavoursome fruit that in previous years.'

Almost 60,000 litres of the red have been made and 7,000 litres of the ros. A reserve quality wine has also been made in 2004 (4,500 litres, Shiraz and Aragonez) which will be released next year. The 2003 Vida Nova currently retails for 7.99.
