Riedel Crystal targets on-trade with new rose wine glass

Published:  01 May, 2015

Specialist glassware company Riedel Crystal has introduced a wine glass specifically for rosé wines, which will be available exclusively to the on-trade.

The Vinum Extreme Rose glass forms part of the Extreme Restaurant Collection and has been designed in collaboration with wine producers from Provence to highlight the bouquet and freshness of rosé wines. It is part of the 300-year old company's ongoing project to provide the on-trade and restaurants with glasses that suit the individual style of a range of varietals.

Since 2000, the company has released a series of grape-specific glasses, which it says has revolutionised glassware and reflects the growing fine wine sector. Georg Riedel told Harpers.co.uk its focus was to create the perfect vessel in which to fully enjoy the qualities of that varietal.

Its range includes Cabernet Sauvginon, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Champagne, Oaked Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc/Riesling, and Malbec.

The new Vinum Extreme Rosé glass has been machine-blown with a specific diamond-shaped bowl, and "extreme" contours that narrows at the top.

"This creates an exceptionally wide evaporation surfaces that intensifies the aromas and silkiness of the wine as it enters the mouth," Riedel said.
