Published:  23 July, 2008

One of the UK's largest own-label drinks suppliers, Manchester-based Kingsland Wines and Spirits, has been purchased in a management buyout by the senior management team, for an undisclosed sum. The current general manager, Andy Sagar, becomes managing director, and his three fellow directors - commercial director Karen Wilson, supply-chain director Mike Forde and manufacturing director Mark Dixon, complete the board. Our customer base and infrastructure has experienced strong growth in the past three years through providing innovative and cost-effective "source-to-shelf" solutions to the multiple retail sector,' commented Sagar. The new board has the full support of the existing funders and guarantors, who have expressed their absolute confidence in the business, its investment and growth strategy,' he added. In 2004, the company produced 6.3 million cases of wine and had a turnover of 120 million. Its brands include The Boulders and Crow's Landing, both sourced from California.
