Geoffrey Roberts awards make a difference

Published:  23 July, 2008

Bursary commemorates inovative wine importer

The Geoffrey Roberts Award, which comprises a travel bursary worth at least 3,000, is made every year to a "deserving potential achiever in the worlds of food, drink and/or travel". The award commemorates the life and work of the late Geoffrey Roberts, the inovative New World wine importer based in London. It continues Roberts' lifelong encouragement of excellence in these three inter-related fields. The award, in the form of both funds and contacts, enables the winner to travel and learn more about his/her chosen subject. Details of how to apply for the 2001 award are given below. The award is run by a London-based registered charity, whose trustees include Neville Abraham, chairman of Groupe Chez Grard, and Nicholas Lander of the Financial Times. Deadline for applications is 30 March 2001 and a winner will be chosen in early summer.
