Buckingham Schenk targets on-trade with strengthened wine list

Published:  05 November, 2015

Buckingham Schenk has released a new wine list, designed to strengthen its foothold in the on-trade.

New to the list are Champagne Arnaud Robert and Champagne Bonnet Launois, both owned and managed by Arnaud Robert, part of a fourth-generation Champagne-growing family.

Buckingham Schenk has also added Savigny les-Beaune-based producer Arthur Barolet & Fils, which offers wines from across Burgundy.

Also new is a range of Swiss wines from Badoux Vins, which produces the acclaimed Aigle Les Murailles.

Both Badoux Vins and Arthur Barolet & Fils belong to the Schenk Wine Group.

Buckingham Schenk is a wholly owned subsidiary of the pan-European Schenk Wine Group, which bought out founder Cliff Roberson in 2012.

The company started to focus on the on-trade three years ago.

It has doubled its on-trade volumes in the last year, and now has some 40 accounts.

Earlier this year it launched an on-trade only Argentinian wine brand, Phebus, to complement its successful off-trade Vinalba brand.

It recently poached Emma Crowther from Negociants UK as national account manager for the on-trade to drive further growth.

Buckingham Schenk managing director Craig Durham said: "We have 40 years of experience and one of Europe's largest wine producing groups behind us which puts us in a strong position.

"Our portfolio has changed beyond recognition and our new list for the on-trade is a testament to the company we now are.

"We're excited to have added so many outstanding new wines and producers to our range which we believe reflects our strengths and capabilities as a company and our role as part of the Schenk Wine Group."

Buckingham Schenk sells some 15 million bottles of wine each year. The Schenk Wine Group sells around 250 million.

The Schenk Wine Group is based in Switzerland.
