Bibendum PLB aims to showcase regional Argentina with two new wine ranges

Published:  14 September, 2015

Bibendum PLB has launched two new wine ranges from Argentina.

Pasarisa and Altaland are made by Catena Zapata and both comprise Torrontes and Cabernet Sauvignon from the mountainous Salta, in the north of the country, Merlot and Pinot Noir from the cool Patagonia region and a Syrah from the La Rioja province.

The Pasarisa range has been designed to appeal to the on-trade and independent retailers and will be available through Bibendum and its Walker & Wodehouse division.

Altaland is aimed at off-trade multiples and will be handled by PLB.

The Altaland Pinot Noir, Merlot and Torrontes will be listed by Waitrose Cellars from the end of the month.

Laura Catena, fourth generation of the Catena family and creator of Pasarisa and Altaland, said: "The idea was to explore what else Argentina has to offer.

"The wine drinking world looks to Mendoza for Malbec - it is the benchmark for quality.

"We wanted to expand on this and make wines that demonstrate how other regions and grape varieties can flourish.

"Argentina is a country of extremes and of varied and awesome landscapes. The richness and diversity of the terroirs mean that many different grape varieties can thrive and can offer profiles that are unique to Argentina."

Michael Saunders, chief executive officer of the Bibendum PLB Group added: "Laura Catena's expertise and passion have resulted in exceptional wines that will pave the way for regional Argentina all over the world."
