Noma takes 1st at World's 50 Best Restaurants

Danish restaurant, Noma has won the S. Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants, for the second year in a row.

Compiled by Restaurant Magazine, from a list createds by The World's 50 Best Restaurants Academy, winners were judged by its panel of over 800 international leaders in the restaurant industry, each selected for their expert opinion of the international restaurant scene.

Noma is best known for its fanatical approach to foraging lead by chef Rene Redzepi.

Spain's El Celler de Can Roca was awarded second place, followed by Spanish restaurant Mugaritz, Italy's Osteria Francescana took fourth place and Britain's Fat Duck dropped two places to fifth on the list.

Former winner, Ferran Adrià's El Bulli, which has topped the winner's list for eight out of its 10 years was closed this year and therefore not included on the list.

Highest new entry was The Ledbury in Notting Hill, highest climber was Nihonryori RyuGin, in Tokyo and the lifetime achievement award winner went to Juan Mari Arzak who was the first chef in Spain to win three Michelin stars.
