Donna Hartwig wins Wine Society's 'winemaker of the year'

Published:  15 November, 2010

Kingston Estate's Donna Hartwig has been named The Wine Society Members' Choice Winemaker of the Year 2010.

Hartwig was one of ten finalists in this year's awards held in Sydney, which are organised with the objective of encouraging and recognising excellence in young winemakers within Australia and New Zealand.

A first time nominee, she won the award for her three wines, the 2009 Kingston Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, 2009 Kingston Estate Petit Verdot and the 2009 Kingston Estate Shiraz.

"It was very humbling to be one of the ten finalists," said Hartwig. "It is a wonderful feeling being recognised for the work that we do.  We obviously don't do it for awards, but it's encouraging to get the recognition."

The Members' Choice Award is selected blind by a panel of Wine Society members at events held around Australia.
