Port vintage declared for 2007

Published:  27 March, 2009

The Symington family have declared a 2007 Port vintage across three of their brands, Graham's, Warre's and Dow's Ports.

The opportunity to declare a vintage for Port is rare and happens only two or three times each decade in the Douro Valley, the result is a vintage Port of great quality and longevity.

Viticulturally 2007, was characterised by near perfect conditions in the Douro, apart from the cool, damp early summer bought a threat of mildew to vineyards who had not taken proper precautions and it meant a great deal of hard work to safeguard the developing fruit.

Rupert Symington said: "Leading up to the vintage a long unbroken period of sunshine ensured beautifully balanced fruit ripening and picking took place on our vineyards under the finest possible conditions."

Graham's and Dow's last vintages were 2000, with Warre's being 2003 and 2000.
