Published:  23 July, 2008

Russian Stolichnaya vodkas have taken a series of blind tasting honours from the US Beverage Tasting Institute (BTI).

The drinks company took a platinum medal in the regular vodka category for the second year running, with the 97 points awarded - the highest ever mark given out for this section.

Its Stoli Peacnik-branded vodka received 94 points and was credited with "outstanding purity of flavour".

Stolichnaya 80 proof was awarded 92 points, as was Stoli Blueberry.

Its Vanili and Citros lines were each give 90 points by the privately owned tasting operation.

The Russian company, part of the Pernod Ricard operation, began importing vodkas to America in 1965, and now claims to make the country's biggest selling products in this sector.
