The Interview - Neil Pinel, managing director, Dunell's Premier Wines, Jersey

Published:  23 July, 2008

Dunell's is an independent, family-owned wine merchant that has been in business for over 100 years. In addition to listing 1,100 lines, Dunell's also supplies wines en primeur and offers storage solutions. Regular tastings and themed dinners keep the events calendar busy. Neil Pinel took over from his father as managing director in 2000.

Perhaps. Obviously, I'd be very happy if it passed down to one of my two children [currently aged 3 years and 18 months], but I think there are better ways of making a living than selling wine. It's hard work and you have to sell a lot of wine before you make any money. It would be great if one of the children were to be interested, but I wouldn't push them towards it. In many ways, I hope they get a job that allows them to drink fine wine rather than just sell it.
