Leading Provençal producer Maison Saint Aix has appointed distributor Liberty Wines as its UK agent.
Since its founding in 2009, Masion Saint Aix has sought to be a champion of site-specific winemaking and sustainability, with its 75ha estate vineyard certified organic and farmed biodynamically.
This single plot vineyard – made up of old vines planted on limestone-rich soil – is one of the largest in the appellation, and one of the highest, sitting at a 500m elevation, behind the Montagne Sainte-Victoire.
Founded with the ambition of creating “the world’s finest rosé”, the estate is primarily known for its AIX Rosé Coteaux d’Aix-en Provence – a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault, although it also produces its AIX White Coteaux d’Aix en Provence – a limited production blend of Rolle and Sauvignon Blanc.
Commenting on the partnership Pierre-Adrien Fleurant, general manager of Maison Saint Aix said: “The UK has always been an important market for AIX, and we are delighted to embark on this partnership with Liberty Wines.
“Their deep market expertise and strong network make them the ideal partner to further strengthen our presence and introduce our wines to even more wine enthusiasts nationwide. We would also like to sincerely thank Mentzendorff, whose support and collaboration have played a vital role in bringing our brand to where it is today.”
Liberty Wines was founded in 1997, growing from a team of four people to a leading quality wine distributor with 240 employees.
The company focuses on sustainable business across all its channels and has a portfolio including Allegrini and Biondi-Santi from Italy, Henschke, Cullen Wines and Shaw + Smith from Australia and Greywacke and Tinpot Hut from New Zealand.
Liberty Wines CEO Tom Platt, added: “We are delighted to be working with Maison Saint Aix, whose focus on sustainability matches our own commitment as a Carbon Neutral Plus company.
“Their AIX Rosé is a quintessential expression of Provence, delivering consistent purity and precision in every bottle. We believe the breadth of formats available offer our customers a great opportunity to respond to consumer demands for larger format bottles for sharing and thereby grow their Provence Rosé sales.”
The 2025 vintage of AIX Rosé will be available to taste at the Liberty Wines Annual Portfolio Tasting in London on Tuesday 20th January.
