Bibendum reports rise in WSET pass rates following investment

Published:  07 January, 2020

Bibendum has reported a rise in WSET pass rates following a “refreshed investment and approach” to the training.

The drinks supplier said the new approach, which includes mock exams and questions on the company’s Looop online training system, had led to pass rates “well above the global average”.

The company’s Level 2 pass rate for 2018/19 was 95%, compared with a global average of 90%, while Level 3 was 100% for tastings (global average 87%), 92% for multiple choice (89%), and 63% for written answers (59%).

More than 80% of students passed with a merit or above.

The “fantastic” results were a testament to how hard all of Bibendum’s educators and students work, said Julia Bailey, head of customer training at Bibendum.

“We’ve long been ahead of the curve in terms of offering online training, but we really wanted to integrate this with the WSET courses we offer and reflect our online learning strategy.”

Utilising its in-house Looop training system means Bibendum’s approach to teaching is now a combination of both online and offline learning, “beyond the standard WSET support package”, it said.

In the last WSET academic year, over 97% of Bibendum WSET students accessed online resources.
