LWF offers £1,000 cash prize to the wine trade’s “top nose”

Published:  08 May, 2019

Someone in the wine industry stands to win £1,000 at the London Wine Fair (LWF) after it teamed up with The Wine Gang - the group of wine writers, critics and tastings hosts - to launch a new competition designed to test the wine industry’s "best and brightest palates”.

As well as the £1,000 cash prize for the overall winner, who will also be profiled on the Wine Gang website, additional prizes include two tickets to The Wine Gang’s Summer event, a Jeroboam of Rogers and Rufus and a magnum of the rare Artemis Karamolegos’s Pyritis.

The “Extreme Tasting Challenge” will feature a series of tasting-related questions on a selection of wines from ten exhibitors, such as identifying an obscure grape variety or a specific winemaking technique.

Anyone wanting to take part can collect an Extreme Tasting Challenge card from the entrance lobby. Cards will be stamped at each of the stands and the completed cards dropped back to the lobby before the end of the show.

Exhibitors participating include: ABS; Buckingham Schenk; Croatian Fine Wines; Richmond Wine Agencies/Ellis Wines; Frederic Robinson; Malux Hungarian Wine & Spirits; G. Patritti & Co; WoodWinters, C&C Wines and Wine & Spirit Education Trust.

The LWF 2019 will take place between Monday, 20th and Wednesday, 22nd May.
