Crown Cellars adds 20 new wines to portfolio including exclusive quintet

Published:  23 April, 2019

Crown Cellars, the specialist on-trade wine division of Carlsberg UK, has added 20 new wines to its 2019/20 portfolio, including five exclusive to the business.

Joining the collection from mid-month, the exclusive additions include Domaine Horgelus Gros Manseng Sauvignon, Les Vignes d’Héloïse Pinot Noir Rosé IGP and Pocket Watch Shiraz.

The 20 new wines, which have been selected by wine buyer Louise Boddington and Jonathan Pedley MW, take Crown Cellars’ portfolio to more than 500 wines, with the newcomers picked from a selection of more than 125 wines, said Pedley.

“We have wines from across the globe, from the new world and old wine producing countries, including Australia, California, New Zealand, France and Georgia. When narrowing down our choice, we listened to what the on-trade told us about consumer demands and needs, and from this whittled it down to just 20 additions.”

In addition to the new wines and the annual ‘main brochure’, Crown Cellars is also this year launching a Tasting Guide featuring ‘Pedley’s Picks’ – a roundup of the MW’s personal favourites from this year’s collection – as well as helpful information for the on-trade, simple-to-follow guidelines around wine tasting, identifying styles and pricing, as well as insight, advice, and training support.

This year’s Crown Cellars Wine Guide will also see the continuation of its Quirky Wines range to “continue provide choice for operators, drive innovation and keep wine selections exciting and fresh”, said the business.

There will be four new additions under the labels Vinivision and To Be Continued.

The Vinivision wines, both Australian, include a dry and aromatic Sauvignon Blanc, and a juicy and ripe Shiraz Viognier, while the Californian To Be Continued label includes a fruity Ruby Cabernet and a full- bodied and rich Chardonnay. Also exclusive to the range will be two Australian wines from Pocket Watch – a fresh Shiraz with a touch of oak, and a light and vibrant Chardonnay.

To accompany the launch of the 2019/20 portfolio, Crown Cellars will be undergoing a brand-refresh including an improved website featuring the full wine range, monthly product spotlights, food pairing information, tasting videos and customer testimonials.
