Lucien Lurton joins Enotria&Coe as part of French portfolio revamp

Published:  18 April, 2019

A top Bordeaux estate, Malbec specialists and two new Languedoc producers comprise a renewed French focus at importer and distributor Enotria&Coe.

The highest profile name on the list might be Grand Cru Classés producer Lucien Lurton, for which Enotria will become exclusive distributors in the UK for the producer’s second labels.

The addition will significantly grow Enotria’s stake in Bordeaux: the Lurtons are currently the largest holders of wine-producing land in the region.

Their properties include Château Climens (owned by Bérénice Lurton), Durfort-Vivens (Gonzague Lurton) and Bouscaut (Sophie Lurton).

Alongside Lucien Lurton, Enotria is also taking on producers from other parts of France.

From Cahors and the Southwest, they will be representing Georges Vigouroux, and from Languedoc-Roussillon, Domaine Cazes and Vignobles Jean Jean, taking the total of new French producers to four.

French buyer Rebecca Gergely said of the new additions: “We’re incredibly proud of our French portfolio; the addition of such esteemed producers within the wine world has elevated our offering to the next level for our customers. It hits all points across price, accessibility and exceptional quality.”

The Vigouroux family are specialists in Malbec, having focused on the Cahors’ flagship varietal since 1887.

Today, fourth generation winemaker Bertrand-Gabriel looks after the winemaking and has strong bonds with Argentinean winemaker, Paul Hobbs.

Domaine Cazes also has history going back to the 19th century.

Today, it is Europe’s largest organic and biodynamic certified wine estate is and is run by fourth generation winemaker Emmanuel, who initiated the organic conversion and added vineyards in the Roussillon area.

Vignobles Jean Jean started at the hands of Hugues and Bernard Jean Jean.

Today Benrard’s daughter Brigitte Jean Jean, is at the helm.
